Plain English Series

My current writing project is what I call my “Plain English Series.” Each book examines a major figure of modern theology by studying their most significant ideas.

This series is uniquely written by a beginner, for beginners. As such, it is the first and only survey of historical theology written by an amateur theologian specifically for other amateur theologians. “Amateur” here should not be confused with poor quality or laziness. Each book is crafted with care and purpose. The origin of the word “amateur” denotes a passionate lover and not, as it is commonly used, merely a non-professional. It is as someone who loves and delights in theology that I write.

Here is my current plan for the series (subject to change):

Karl Barth in Plain English (2017)

T. F. Torrance in Plain English (2017)

Jürgen Moltmann in Plain English (2018)

 Schleiermacher in Plain English (2019)

James H. Cone in Plain English (TBD)

Paul Tillich in Plain English (TBD)

Dietrich Bonhoeffer in Plain English (TBD)

Rudolf Bultmann in Plain English (TBD)

Robert W. Jenson in Plain English (TBD)

Søren Kierkegaard in Plain English  (TBD)
